Synopsis
The family of the 20-year-old dropout, Ling, is on the edge of collapsing, with her parents barely maintaining the illusion of tolerance in front of her. To take her mind away from the impending fallout, she joins Tai’s boxing team after being recommended.
Aside from training, Ling also has to work as a kitchenhand and delivery person to support her family, as her mother’s income from running a lunchbox business has to go to her brother’s tuition, and her father being too spontaneous to be relied on. She would have accepted her fate and kept the illusion of harmony if not for her father bringing home a new “girl” friend, igniting her desire for action and justice.
Ling has never fully understood Coach Tai’s motto for boxing, “True wit walks the fine line between deception and commitment.” Yet still, her crumbling family leaves her with no answer for right or wrong. But torment brings glory, and the bitterness and training from a fierce childhood in turn becomes the catalyst that vanquishes a new born pursuit of self-belief. This time, the stage is waiting to be hers.
